White Sands National Park





White Sands NP is located near Las Cruces, New Mexico. It is 145,762 acres in size. The average depth of the sand is 30'. It was made into a National Park by President Trump in 2019.

The drive through the park is a drive through a giant sand pile.



Fortunatly it was not a windy day and the sand was not blowing.



The kids had fun sledding down the sand dunes.



Of course when in sand go barefoot.



The fine white sand is pure Gypsum.



The sand covers 275 sq. mi. The dunes are as high as 60' feet.



Warnings for driving on sand. The roads had to be kept open with snow (sand) plows.
