st. Mary's Glacier hike

On August 1, 2025 we returned after 5 years to the Glacier.

The glacier had recovered from the very hot year of 2020.

Prior St.Mary's Hikes

Our hike is up a rock bed
that was previously a creek.

The lake formed from the
melting glacier.

Crossing the creek as we
proceed up to the glacier.

in the background.

The glacier is now much
larger than it was in 2020.

Panoramic as we start
up to the glacier.

Same view in 2020. Note the glacier had melted down considerably.

In 2020 tree roots were exposed
under the melting glacier.

In 2025 the glacier was
much larger.

We stop for lunch and have a chipmunk begging for food.

Lunchtime at half way
up the glacier.

We start back.

We meet a bull moose in
the bushes.

Nearby there is a female moose.

Young kids enjoy jumping
from a cliff.

Highest altitude we went to at about half way up the glacier.
