Lanzarote island







On December 9, 2025 our cruise stopped at the island of Lanzarote. It has a population of 163,000 in an area of 326 sq. miles. It is located only 80 miles off the coast of Africa. It is a desert Island only getting 4" of rain a year. All the land is basically lava rocks.


ITINERARY

As we pulled into harbor we saw a mooring bay of sailboats.



Once docked the view was of a mostly treeless black lava island.



As we walked into town we pass a fisherman pulling in a swordfish.



Soon we pass a lagoon with the tide out leaving the boats stranded.



We pass a skeleton of a prehistoric ocean fish.



A couple pigeons found a great nesting area in the eye.



Besides pigeons there
was this Eurasian Whimbrel.

The main commercial street was decorated for Christmas.

couple city blocks long.

As we walked by the lagoon we come across a flock of pigeons.
