HARMONICA ARCH

Harmonica Arch is the largest natural bridge in Colorado. On August 22, 2023 we hiked the 7 mile roundtrip hike from the trailhead of the Goose Creek Trail in Lost Creek Wilderness.

At the trailhead from the left Mark, Kurt and Tim.

The first half mile is in the burn area of the Haydon Fire of 2003.

View from the south side of the arch and pinnacle prior to going on the humongous boulder.

Two miles from the trailhead is the access to the huge boulder at the Balancing Rock.

We explore the north side.

The view to the north from the huge boulder.

At the top the view is fantastic.

From above the south side the pinnacle near the arch.

Mark decides to just sit and admire the view. Walking near the arch is almost like walking on the side of a cliff.

The arch taken on the boulder from the south.

Tim returning from the south side of the arch.

Kurt takes one last look before heading back.

The view to the south with Pikes Peak in the far right side.

We turn to admire the immensity of the boulder as we leave.

What a scenic area of huge boulders and peaks.

A look back as we leave the spectacular scenery of the Harmonica Arch area.

We return to the trailhead 5 hours later.

The huge boulder from space. The Balancing Rock is circled on the far left and the pinnacle is pointed to on the lower portion. The arch is not visible.
