On 02/28/2022 we hiked Dawson Butte Ranch Park south of Castle Rock. It was a 5 mile loop hike with elevation change of 500 feet.

The Trailhead

There were many benches and this picnic table made of rough wood.

Dawson Butte Trail

Most of the trail was dry sand.

At the 1 mile marker.

The day was near 70 degrees with the snow melting fast.

Near mile 2.

We stayed on Dawson Butte trail.

Much of the hike was in trees and little under brush.

We decided to save the Stairway to Heavan trail for later.

Soon we came to a beautiful mountain.

There are many benches along the trail.

At the 4 mile point.

The trail was well marked.

The buttes were beautiful.

An abandoned corral used by the former ranch.

We arrive back at the parking lot.
