CHIRICAHUA NATIONAL MONUMENT

Chiricahua National Monument is located near Wilcox Arizona. It has many columns of rock that are called Hoodoos. Our hike was on the Echo Canyon Trail on 04/08/2022.

The restroom at the trailhead.

The beginning of the hike.

There are huge boulders as we start hiking.

The columns started out small.

And kept getting larger and larger.

Soon the view was massive columns of Hoodoos.

Joanne finds a shady rest spot.

There were many balancing rocks.

Many very precariously balanced.

We march on to the Hoodoos.

It was a 70 degree day with a warm sun.

The smokestacks of rocks were all around us.

The walls of the canyons were over 100 feet high.

Some lizards ran up the walls.

The balancing rocks made us wonder if they ever have an earthquake.

Amazing such towers are still standing as they seemed so fragile.

We start worrying as vultures start flying overhead.

After 2 miles we haven't seen Hailstone Trail so we turn back.
