APEX 4 WHEEL DRIVE photos

On Sept. 23, 2021 we drove to the "Rockhouse" overlook of Loch Lomond Reservoir.

This is located west of St. Mary's Glacier. This took us to the altitude of 11,636'.

The start of the 4 wheel drive road.

The going gets rough as the road is not maintained.

The town east of St, Mary's Glacier.

The first valley we see is Fall River Reservoir.

The valley has 3 lakes and the reservoir.

The next valley to the right is Loch Lomond Reservoir.

As we get to the tree line we have Bristlecone Pine.

The mountain on the right is James Peak.

At 11,636' we come to the Rock House which is a shelter from the wind.

Loch Lomond Reservoir is between James Peak and Mt. Bancroft.

There are 4 other lakes in the valley of Loch Lomond Reservoir.

We have hiked every part of this area. See other website under James Peak Wilderness.

The "Rock House" shelter has many human modifications.

It was only 2 miles of terrible road. Maybe next time we will hike.

Back to the tree line and Bristlecone Pine.
